HOT OR NOT: CRANK THAT SOULJA BOY

The song is so hot right now that “Crank That” by Soulja Boy just opened up last week’s Entourage episode. We haven’t had too many Laffie Taffy’s or Lean Wit It’s this summer (call it luck?) until now. Let us know what you think… hot club song or pure garbage?

What is 50 Cent thinking?

50 CentIn an exclusive interview with the New York Daily News, 50 Cent had this to say in regards to his September 11 album release battle with Kanye West:

“Let’s raise the stakes,” he says. “If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer [perform] music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out any more solo albums.”

Hmm… interesting. 50 Cent should start digging his grave–Kanye’s album currently resides above 50’s on the iTunes Albums charts. So if that’s any indication of what’s to come of this album release war, Curtis will mark 50 Cent’s final solo album. Errrrrrrr

LATEST LEAK VICTIM: SWIZZ BEATZ

Swizz Beatz

Swizz Beatz‘ newest album, Money In The Bank, has suffered a leak on the internet. No worries, though — I’m thoroughly impressed with this album. No, it doesn’t have the lyrical content of Finding Forever or Late Registration, but it’s definitely great record for the whip. (Well put, Dustin) I can’t get enough of the collab with Chris Martin of Coldplay. Speaking of which, could he be the new Justin Timberlake for hip-hop features? First Jay-Z, now Swizz Beatz, and even Kanye West. Me likey.

CONFIRMED: KANYE WEST GRADUATION COVER

It’s official! Here’s the album cover for Graduation, Kanye West’s third studio album. All of us here at Killed That are MORE than excited about this album. Though I’m personally not too impressed with “Stronger,” I think “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is genius, and was the perfect comeback track for ‘Ye. I’m really looking forward to what this album has to offer. I heard “The Good Life,” rumored to be the album’s third single, that features T-Pain. All I can say is DOPE. September 11, peoples. Cop three albums just so 50 Cent is put in his place.

Pre-Order Graduation over at iTunes.

ARTIST ON THE VERGE: CANDACE JONES

Candace Jones

You may remember Candace Jones from the official remix of Ne-Yo’s “Sexy Love”. The R&B soulstress hails from Brooklyn, NY, and has already garnered a lot of attention on urban radio stations for her new single, “Candy’s World” featuring Uncle Murda and DJ Hollywood. Trust me, the girl can sing. Enjoy the two hits below–the aforementioned “Candy’s World” as well as “Breeze By”. You can also check her out on iTunes. Stay tuned for more updates for this developing artist on the verge.

NEW VIDEO: TWISTA FT. PHARRELL- “GIVE IT UP”

This video definitely has that “Gold Digger” feel… Hype Williams kills yet another hip-hop video. This one is a must see:

SETTING IT STRAIGHT: LAURYN HILL IS NOT INSANE!

OK, so maybe there is no more Fugees album on it’s way. Regardless, Lauryn Hill recently conducted a great interview (not sure who the chick is?) and it’s posted on Youtube. She’s sounding punctual as hell… definitely not as crazy as people are making her out to seem. So will all the haters please sit down?

NEW ALBUM: LIL’ JON- “CRUNK ROCK”

Lil’ Jon- Crunk Rock

Lil’ Jon’s upcoming hip-hop/rock album, Crunk Rock, is already getting a lot of hype. Recruitment for recording has began and it looks like the album will feature guests stars P.O.D., Kid Rock, Ciara, Ice Cube, Remy Ma, Lil’ Wayne, The Game, Gucci Mane, Three 6 Mafia and R. Kelly.

Lil’ Jon says the album will be half-rock, half-hip-hop. “My sh*t is real rock guitars with my beats, not keyboard guitars with ghetto beats. It’s gonna be a little different from what you hear right now, but I think everyone will love it.”

Lil Jon expects the album to be finished by the end of the year, but a date has yet to be confirmed. Keep it locked to Killed That for updates…
