NEW MUSIC REVIEW // 02.28.08

Hey! My name is Patrice and I’m your new ‘Music Review-er-er’ here on Killed That! Enough about me though….

THIS WEEK

FLO’RIDA’S TENTH WEEK ON TOP

Flo’Rida’s club hit ‘Low’ is spending its tenth week on the top of the charts. Personally, I think the song is mediocre. His lyrics are all about ass. And more ass. And a tattoo above an ass. And a girl shaking an ass. But I guess the fact that T-Pain is on the track means something. Chris Brown is holding the #2 spot with his slow joint ‘With You’ and Five-Head [Rihanna] has the #3 spot with her techno crap ‘Don’t Stop the Music’. Someone please answer my question. When is Rihanna going to sit her ass down somewhere? Doesn’t she realize her 4.5 mintues of fame is up?

NICOLE SCHERZINGER FINALLY HAS A HIT!

Nicole Scherzinger - Happily Never After - Her Name Is Nicole - KilledThat.com

After receiving lackluster support for her first two singles, “Whatever U Like” and “Super Villain,” Nicole Scherzinger did what any other over-hyped musician would do: go back to the drawing board. Nicole collaborated with Ne-Yo in the studio, and here’s the brainchild of their recording sessions: “Happily Never After.” This definitely has the potential to push Nicole to the top of the Hot 100 charts.

Listen: Nicole Scherzinger- “Happily Never After” (MP3) // Re-Up’ed

BTW, listen to the song at 2:45 mins to hear Ne-Yo’s low-key cameo.

NEW VIDEO: MARIAH CAREY- “TOUCH MY BODY”

A lot of you guys are probably scratching your heads thinking, “What the HELL is this?” Given the song’s blatant sexual meaning, it would have been really corny for Mariah to release yet another softcore music video. Instead she went the creative route and cooked up this every-geeks-dream masterpiece. Props to you, Mariah.

Oh and did anyone else find this hilarious: “This internet speed is killing me! Did you install the 802.11n?” Well done, MC.

Mariah Carey’s forthcoming album, E=MC², hits stores 4/15 on Island Records.

NEW VIDEO: ESTELLE FT. KANYE WEST- “AMERICAN BOY”

This song is pure genius…from Kanye’s cocky rhymes to Estelle’s breathy vocals. I’m not crazy about the simplicity of this video–I was hoping for something more colorful and flashy. After all, it’s an “American Boy,” and we’re talking K. West here!

Estelle is signed to John Legend’s Homeschool Records. Check her out on her Myspace page.

GM TO RELEASE THE CHEVY VOLT, THE FIRST COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE ELECTRIC CAR IN THE US

Chevrolet Volt - Chevy Volt - KilledThat.com

I have to admit–we here at KilledThat.com are treehuggers. Yes, we do take pleasure in copping new Lanvin shoes and driving SUVs, but we start to worry when people start telling us global warming will bring us closer to 10 foot pythons or send New York City underwater in 50 years. So imagine our excitement when we heard about the new Chevy Volt.

What is it you ask? A futuristic car with the two most ballerific features we’ve seen in a while–er, never seen before:

There are two things that make the Volt’s E-flex drivetrain noteworthy. First, it is a series hybrid, which means power is fed directly to the motor, not the battery. It can be plugged into a household electric socket and charged fully within about six hours. Completely charged it can drive roughly 40 miles on electricity alone. According to GM, more than 75 percent of Americans live within 20 miles of where they work, meaning the Volt would get them to the office and back on 100% electricity with no direct emissions.

If the battery does run down, the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder gas engine acts as a generator to charge the battery and provides enough power to for up to an additional 600 miles.

The second significant aspect is that the gasoline-driven generator engine can easily be replaced with an engine that runs on E85, diesel, bio-diesel, pure ethanol or even a hydrogen fuel cell. People would then be able to chose their engine based on fuel availability and prices in their region.  (via TreeHugger)

So guys, get rid of your Range Rovers and X5s…get ready for the Chevy Volt. (No word on pricing yet)

HOT OR NOT: RON BROWZ

Unless you’re from New York City (and even then…you never know), you probably have no idea who the hell Ron Browz is.

Let me enlighten you.

He’s riding the DJ Webstar road to fame. He’s been putting out teen-focused party hits for the past few years, but unfortunately, none have really caught on. He produced Nas’s “Ether,” 50 Cent’s “Whip Yo Head Boy,” and Remy Ma’s comeback single, “Fresh,” as well.

He also collaborated with DJ Webstar on his album, but unfortunately that album sold about 400 copies so you still probably wouldn’t have heard of him.

So let’s give the man a shot…here’s a Killed That exclusive: Ron Browz’ “Million Dollars.” Hot –or– NOT?

Listen: Ron Browz- “Million Dollars” (MP3)

KANYE’S GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR SELLING OUT LIKE WILDFIRE

Kanye West Glow In The Dark Tour

Talk about hot hands… I’m telling you guys the Madison Square Garden stop of Kanye West’s forthcoming Glow In The Dark Tour sold out in 30 seconds… whatever the final number is, trust me, you could not find tix if you logged on 30 seconds later.

I demand a second show!

NEW MUSIC: ROCKO DA DON’s SWAG SEASON MIXTAPE

Rocko Da Don - KilledThat.com

Island So So Def’s Rocko is heating the waves with his debut single, “Umma Do Me.” But can the ATL Trapper keep up the momentum with the release of his DJ Scream-hosted Swag Season mixtape? You be the judge:

Oh yeah, and thanks to Island So So Def and us, you can win a pair of Gucci Sneakers and an iPod Touch from Rocko on his Myspace page

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown on the set of the star’s new single “No Air”

Jordin Sparks’ “No Air” is starting to gain play on nationwide
The song features R&B crooner Chris Brown

Following in the footsteps of “Tattoo,” which is currently in the top ten on Billboard’s Pop 100 singles list, Jordin Sparks’ second single “No Air,” a duet with labelmate Chris Brown, is already getting major radio support across the country.
