And somehow got Lil Wayne to star on Cassie’s new single “Official Girl” (Which, by the way, she stole from Def Jam’s Karina). We all know why Lil Wayne got involved though… “I’m about to get a lot more female fans from this,” the man-of-the-month admits at the end of the video below:
The good folks at Compound Entertainment sent this ish over…Ne-Yo’s the latest victim to jump on hip-hop’s most overplayed beat (at least in the last 60 days), “A Milli,” originally performed by million-week-sales-dude of the month, Lil Wayne.
And in case you’re wondering, Tango (who Ne-Yo shouts out two or three times on the track) is Ne-Yo’s manager, who the R&B connisieur claims can get him “30x more [than any other manager].” Hmm. Tell Ne-Yo to stop riding. Seriously.
“Shoot Me Down” featuring D. Smith. I’m going to agree with ‘Ye on this one. Once you get past the Lollipop/Milli/Got Money single shit, this is the illest track on Tha Carter III. I’d say the runner up is “3 Peat.” That used to be my shit until I played it 30 times in a row two days ago. I’m now on a break from 3-Peat.
P.S. I’m sure you guys heard already, but Weezy pulled through with more than 1 million sales of Tha Carter III in the first week of his sales. Holy shit, I saw this pulling in 400k max. I guess I’m bugging.
P.P.S. Hottest line from “Shoot Me Down” — “I ain’t kinda hot, I’m sauna.” I know that sounds retarded but play it 39 seconds into it and you’ll be impressed by dude’s swag.
This nifty ’80s retro boombox is an iPod dock in disguise. This means you can carry this thing around and blast your iPhone playlists while everyone else thinks you’re spinning out-of-date compact discs. For $220, would you cop this? To purchase: www.UrbanOutfitters.comEDIT: If you care, I found the same boombox at Buy.com for $50 cheaper.
Ahh, don’t we all love Nas. He’s without a doubt the dopest rapper out right now keeping hip-hop alive. He’s finally launched his official blog/site www.NasIndependenceDay.com which I recommend you guys all check out. His new untitled album drops July 15, 2008. Here’s a trailer for his new single, “Hero,” produced by Polow Da Don.
The video isn’t the most energetic nor interesting one on the block, but I love this song nonetheless, and commend Def Jam for still pushing Chrisette’s debut album, I AM. It was truly a beautiful record. Go pick it up if you haven’t already.
New music straight from the Def Jam squad. LL Cool J teams up with R&B vocoder-abuser-of-the-year The-Dream for a genuinely hot song. LL drops his new album EXIT 13 8/5.
Andrew’s gonna be excited about this one! Karina Pasian has chosen ‘Can’t Find the Words’as her second single off her upcoming album FirstLove. Though I wasn’t really into her last single, this one has swayed me into thinking she’s going to become a forced to be reckoned with. It’s smooth and is just what young artists in the R&B game should be trying to emulate. Great job on this one Karina!
