New Music: Karina Pasian - Can’t Find The Words

Andrew’s gonna be excited about this one! Karina Pasian has chosen ‘Can’t Find the Words’ as her second single off her upcoming album First Love. Though I wasn’t really into her last single, this one has swayed me into thinking she’s going to become a forced to be reckoned with. It’s smooth and is just what young artists in the R&B game should be trying to emulate. Great job on this one Karina!

KILLED THAT EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ACE HOOD

I had the pleasure to do my first interview with an artist of intelligent words. Ace Hood is a newly signed artist to DJ Khaled’s label We The Best Music. His debut single ‘Cash Flow’ has been murdering mainstream radio and he refuses to stop there.

Q: To start off, tell me about where you grew up.

Ace: Well you know, I’m from St. Lucia. Grew up in Deerfield Beach, Florida ya know. That was my home or my city for like 14 plus years.

Q: How did your childhood influence your music?

Ace: Well in my childhood I didn’t grow up with my original father, so my step father- he took place of his position or what not. My real father was a part of music as well. He was part of a band and my step father was part of a band as well. The pretty much inspired me. They inspired me coming up. Ya know. Do what I do. They was always supporting me to do it. So I might as well have pursued it like that.

NEW MUSIC REVIEW // 02.28.08

Hey! My name is Patrice and I’m your new ‘Music Review-er-er’ here on Killed That! Enough about me though….

THIS WEEK

FLO’RIDA’S TENTH WEEK ON TOP

Flo’Rida’s club hit ‘Low’ is spending its tenth week on the top of the charts. Personally, I think the song is mediocre. His lyrics are all about ass. And more ass. And a tattoo above an ass. And a girl shaking an ass. But I guess the fact that T-Pain is on the track means something. Chris Brown is holding the #2 spot with his slow joint ‘With You’ and Five-Head [Rihanna] has the #3 spot with her techno crap ‘Don’t Stop the Music’. Someone please answer my question. When is Rihanna going to sit her ass down somewhere? Doesn’t she realize her 4.5 mintues of fame is up?

ARTIST ON THE VERGE: LEE CARR

You may remember R&B singer Lee Carr off the Def Jam-produced Waist Deep Soundtrack. He was pretty much the only dope addition to the album, with the soul banger, “Act Like That.” The singer/songwriter recently left Def Jam Records to sign a multi-million dollar contract with Jive Records. He’s currently in the studio working with Stargate, Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Danja, and others. Look out for his album coming out early 2008. Stay tuned.

Oh, and to hook you up with an exclusive Lee Carr feature, check out the unreleased “Girl You Know” below. (Not on the album though…)

ARTIST ON THE VERGE: CANDACE JONES

Candace Jones

You may remember Candace Jones from the official remix of Ne-Yo’s “Sexy Love”. The R&B soulstress hails from Brooklyn, NY, and has already garnered a lot of attention on urban radio stations for her new single, “Candy’s World” featuring Uncle Murda and DJ Hollywood. Trust me, the girl can sing. Enjoy the two hits below–the aforementioned “Candy’s World” as well as “Breeze By”. You can also check her out on iTunes. Stay tuned for more updates for this developing artist on the verge.

Enough of the name dropping… listen to his new self-titled single, “Ya Boy”:

Toyota To Release Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle?

Toyota Hybrid

Toyota is allegedly testing out a new technology for their eco-friendly Prius line that would allow drivers to charge their vehicles electronically. As of now, Toyota’s car batteries can hold enough juice for a measly 8-minute drive before the battery depletes. However, as battery technology continues to advance, it’s quite possible that we’ll soon be plugging our cars into electric outlets rather than filling them up with gasoline. Cool, huh?

Artist On The Verge: Blitz Mcbain

Blitz Mcbain

Introducing Blitz Mcbain, straight off the Diplomats Crew. Word is he split with J.R. Writer’s Writer’s Block Records after they tried putting his career on hold. Here he is a few months later pursuing his solo career on his own. Mad props! His new single is dope. He has a great flow and is very moving. Enough of this Hurricane Chris ish… (sorry for the unnecessary jab).
