No disrespect against the light-headed, but…

I really wish I could’ve been there

New Video: Young Jeezy- “Who Dat”

I don’t get it. I just don’t get it. “Who Dat” was one of my favorite tracks off The Recession. I used to roll through Melrose (L.A.) blasting this out the whip… and it kind of made up for the fact that I’m a puny white dude trying to stunt.

But in all seriousness, how the fu*k did Jeezy screw this video up so badly?

First… where is the plot? A female cop (probably influenced by Weezy’s “Ms. Officer” video)…then a court room filled with dancing people…then Jeezy standing in front of a completely green-screened “Da Trap” sign…then a fake janky ass helicopter…and then back to the court. WTF is this? Can someone explain how this relates AT ALL to the idea behind the track “Who Dat”?

Now that my rant is over… what’s with this hodgepodge of new-school and old-school rappers. This feels like an “Arab Money” video part 2… with cheesy green-screened-in celebs. This time I noticed Busta Rhymes (what a surprise…new album drops soon), DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, Akon, Ice Cube, Fabolous. The only reason I’m not going to sh*t on this lineup further is that it is a great representation of the Def Jam family. But still, random.

Listen, I know the economy’s rough… and it’s time to cut those video budgets in half…but still. Enough with wack ass blatant usage of the green screen in platinum rappers’ videos. Hype, we need you!

Without further ado, here’s the music video for Young Jeezy’s new single, “Who Dat”:

What do you guys think??

New Video: Busta Rhymes- “Arab Money” & Behind The Scenes of the “Arab Money” Remix Video

Busta’s recently been under fire for his song “Arab Money”‘s responsibility for suspending UK DJ Steve “Smooth” Sutherland, but that doesn’t get in the way of him releasing a hilarious new video featuring his sidekick, Spliff Star for the Ron Browz-produced track.

Peep the video below:

And if you thought Busta was done there, think again. (Remember how many “Touch It” remixes and videos he put out? Exactly.) Busta’s also gearing up to release the video for the “Arab Money” remix featuring Ron Browz, Diddy, Swizz Beatz, T-Pain, Akon and Lil Wayne.

Lose the fur, Busta.

P.S. Shout outs to Rik Cordero doing his thing. He’s responsible for directing both the “Arab Money” videos, and you see him in the clip above. He’s really taking over the hip-hop music video industry.

AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS PERFORMANCES RECAP

Beyoncé- “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”

Kanye West- “Heartless”

Rihanna- “Rehab”

Who killed it: Kanye & Rihanna. Kanye’s electric set and heartfelt performance further establishes him as the top hip-hop performer. Props to Rihanna for her elegant outfit and great single choice.

Step your game up: Beyonce. I’ve seen this performance a million times, not to mention it’s exactly the same as the music video. Plus, is she lip-syncing?

Young Jeezy Mocks Palin & McCain in new music video for “Crazy World”

Sarah Palin and John Mccain Mockery in Young Jeezy’s video for “Crazy World”

I think we all saw this one coming. In the music video for Def Jam artist Young Jeezy’s latest single, “Crazy World,” the rapper exposes all that has gone awry with our world. The video feels like an urban rendition of Cloverfield–hundreds of people are running around in the streets, as gas prices continue rising and lame presidential hopefuls (Sarah Palin and John Mccain) ignorantly hold their thumbs up.

My initial reaction: Interesting video, but I think it’s too delayed to make any impact on the American people. Barack won the election. Gas prices have been declining steadily for the past 60 years. Sarah Palin is out of the spotlight. Had Jeezy dropped this video a few weeks ago (say–before November 4), I think he could have reached a much wider audience. Nice attempt, though.

Clearly Soulja Boy isn’t affected by the economy…

Soulja Boy’s video for his new single, “Turn My Swag On,” features the hip-pop superstar waking up in a bed covered in Gucci sheets and blows his nose with 100-dollar bills. He definitely doesn’t have funds invested in the stock market. Soulja Boy’s new album, iSouljaBoyTellEm hits stores December 16.

Will you be copping the new album? Post your comments.

NEW MUSIC VIDEO: JAZMINE SULLIVAN- “BUST YOUR WINDOWS”

This is one of my favorite tracks off Jazmine Sullivan’s debut, Fearless. The second single, “Bust Your Windows,” is an ode to women (and men, I guess?) fed up with dealing with their partners’ shenanigans. The production is eery and forceful. I love it. My only complaint: Jazmine didn’t actually bust any car windows in this video. Is there a round 2 coming?

Video: Common- “Universal Mind Control”

Still not sold on the song. The video didn’t really help. Really hoping this album’s gonna be dope.

Hype Williams is a beast, volume 1.

Check out the new video for “Everybody Nose” (Remix) featuring Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pusha T. Holy shit. Hype Williams is a genius. This video is fucking dope as hell.

I see you onsmash.
