The Wackness is a coming-of-age story about a hip-hop fanatic/recent high school graduate living in New York City in ‘94. I’ve heard a few people say they didn’t like the movie, but it was–in my book–great because of both the screenwriters’ ability to keep me engaged without significant plot as well as my ability to relate to the main character. White? Check. Just graduated high school? (Sigh) Check. Loves hip-hop? Check. Spends his summers in NYC? Check. Can’t get girls? Uhh…debatable? Even if you can’t peep the movie (it is independent so it’s playing in a limited number of theatres) make sure you check out the soundtrack. It’s fucking dope. As I said before: ‘94, NYC, hip-hop. I’m sure you can guess who’s on it.

This is another beautiful cut from Def Jam’s rising star, Karina. The R&B singer just turned 17 last Friday (big ups to Karina & the Pasian family) and her album, FIRST LOVE, hits stores August 19.

Her new single, “Can’t Find The Words,” was single of the week on iTunes a few weeks ago and was the most downloaded song in Universal Music Group history. The video for the single, which was shot in NYC, drops soon.

And somehow got Lil Wayne to star on Cassie’s new single “Official Girl” (Which, by the way, she stole from Def Jam’s Karina). We all know why Lil Wayne got involved though… “I’m about to get a lot more female fans from this,” the man-of-the-month admits at the end of the video below:

The good folks at Compound Entertainment sent this ish over…Ne-Yo’s the latest victim to jump on hip-hop’s most overplayed beat (at least in the last 60 days), “A Milli,” originally performed by million-week-sales-dude of the month, Lil Wayne.

And in case you’re wondering, Tango (who Ne-Yo shouts out two or three times on the track) is Ne-Yo’s manager, who the R&B connisieur claims can get him “30x more [than any other manager].” Hmm. Tell Ne-Yo to stop riding. Seriously.
